- Must have held a Class C (Car) Licence for at least 2 years (including “P” Plates) or held a MR Licence for 12 months.
- Overseas Licence evidence MUST be provided if SA Licence has been held for less than 2 years.

What is the difference between MR, HR and LR licences?

- LR (Light Rigid) – Allows you to drive light rigid vehicles such as small buses and light trucks with a GVM over 4.5 tonnes and up to 8 tonnes.
- MR (Medium Rigid) – Allows you to drive medium rigid trucks and buses with 2 axles and a GVM over 8 tonnes.
- HR (Heavy Rigid) – Allows you to drive larger rigid trucks and buses with 3 or more axles, making it the highest class of the three and suitable for a wider range of heavy vehicle jobs.
